Gravity Adventure pioneered the Palmiet River and have been running it for over 15 years now. We are privileged to be a licensed operator on this awesome river.
At medium and high water levels we offer thrilling white water rafting in two-person inflatable ‘crocodiles’ or four person rafts.
Palmiet River whitewater rafting is suitable for anyone aged 13 or older. You’ll need a reasonable level of fitness. We provide qualified guides with an intimate knowledge of the river and its environment and instruction on how to steer your craft.
All boating and safety equipment is provided including PFDs (‘lifejackets’),and helmets. Wetsuits are also provided. Since this excursion takes place in a sensitive natural environment, group size is limited to 24 people per group day. We can run two rafting groups simultaneously. The trip price includes permits, all equipment, snacks, transport and APA qualified guides. It doesn’t include the Cape Nature Conservation fee (currently R40.00 per adult and payable on entry) – if you have a WildCard or are staying in the reserve, you don’t pay this.
Minimum group size is 6 guests for the activity to go ahead. If the amount is not reached, we will get in contact with you to reschedule.

The Palmiet River tumbles through the Fynbos covered mountains of the Kogelberg Nature Reserve, just outside Kleinmond, about an hour’s drive from Cape Town. This pristine natural environment forms the backdrop to our Palmiet River Experience. A friendly stream during the summer months, winter rainfall turns the river into an exciting white water adventure.
We booked the Palmiet White Water Rafting as part of two old time families celebrating tow 60th birthdays within one week at the Kogelberg Nature reserve. We were a group of 9 and despite the bad weather forecasted and river in flood, decided to persevere and do it! We were terribly impressed with the professionalism and focus on safety and fun from the legend and experienced Andrew Kellett and guide Mike - in spite of some scary encounters, we always felt they were in control and had an amazing time! lifelong memories were made, thank you! - Lize
