Shark Cage Diving with ONE WAY Transfer to/from Cape Town

Gansbaai

Activity Description

All trips are weather and tide dependant and launch times may vary accordingly from those stated. Your launch time will be confirmed the day before.
Marine Dynamics enjoys sightings of copper sharks (bronze whalers), visiting great white sharks and even the occasional stingray at our vessel. Great White Shark behaviour is less predictable post orca predation in 2017. Daily blog of sightings is available. All content on our website is the property of Marine Dynamics.

Please note that the Conservation Fee is compulsory. Please check the Add-on and specify the number of adults and children during the booking process. The booking will not be successful if this add-on is not selected and accounted for all members in the group.

Unlike bungy jumping or sky diving, the adrenaline rush from shark cage diving comes from being face to face with our ocean’s top predators.

The experience puts you in their territory while the safety of the activity allows you to be an observer and learn what these sharks are really like. An onboard marine biologist will educate you about these amazing predators.

Shark Cage Diving is safe for children and elders and gives the whole family a wonderful opportunity to bond in a fun environment surrounded by experts and researchers.

After this once in a life time experience, you’ll find yourself buzzing with excitement and adrenaline. You will have had the opportunity to come up close and personal with one of the oceans most majestic and foreboding creatures.

Here is a brief breakdown of what to expect once you arrive:
• Before the trip guests meet at THE GREAT WHITE HOUSE in Kleinbaai
• You will receive breakfast or lunch and register your wetsuit size
• Guests receive a pre-trip safety briefing about what to expect during the trip and a biological background on great white sharks
• We then take a 200m stroll down to the harbour to board Slashfin
• Travel time to Dyer Island is approximately 20 minutes, with the shallows being a short 10 minute ride (where we anchor depends on where the sharks are)
• On average, we anchor for 2 hours, but this depends on shark activity, conditions, as well as number of divers
• Weather permitting, we take a quick trip through the infamous Shark Alley
• Lastly, a debrief in the Great White House and a celebratory beverage to toast the occasion!

Why We Are Different:
• A dedicated marine biologist on board every trip
• Our Boat (Slashfin) is the largest in the industry (most deck space per customer) and was purposely built for shark cage diving and includes two restrooms, and an upper deck for the ultimate viewing and photography experience when not in the cage.
• A fully licensed Restaurant and Crew House, aptly named the GREAT WHITE HOUSE, which includes facilities such as: 2 marine rooms where professional safety and informative briefings are given before each trip + separate ladies/gents/handicap restroom facilities with a 5-star rating + curio shop
• We guarantee clean, dry wetsuits (a rarity in the industry)
• Our crew receives as many compliments as the Great White Sharks, with more combined experience than any other Shark Cage Diving crew.
• You will leave with great memories and a deep appreciation of this majestic animal.

Thank you for paying the conservation fee, your money goes directly towards the Dyer Island Conservation Trust, enabling us to do research, monitoring, attend to marine animal strandings, rehabilitation- and marine conservation work. This would not be possible without your conservation fee. This fee, ensures that the whales, sharks, dolphins, seals and African penguins of the Dyer Island Eco System, will be here, not only upon your return, but your children and grandchildren’s return.

Customer Reviews

This trip ran really well, comms beforehand, pick up on time, comfortable transport which allowed me to sleep for two hours from Cape Town (4am collection). A surprise breakfast on arrival. Good briefing, expectations managed, can't control animals. Safety was important to me and one of the reasons I chose Marine Dynamics and it was taken seriously, but not overwhelming. Gas cylinder life jackets for the journey out and back. As we had a bit of a swell it wasn't easy getting down to see the sharks but I saw them and then afterwards I could also see them from above easily. Everyone was treated with respect if someone wanted out of the cage for whatever reason they got out and no mocking just consideration of there needs. Warm water in your wetsuit and a hot drink and snacks when you get out meant that you could stand for a bit appreciating the experience rather than rushing to get changed to warm up. Take note of the seasickness warning it is open water and you don't know what conditions you will get, I took Kwells tablets and was OK, they did help people who were off colour with remedies but they can't give you pharmacy drugs so if in doubt take them. Enough practical stuff it was great do it! - Amanda

Lots of fun! Marine Dynamics was extremely accommodating throughout the day and made an effort to make me as comfortable as possible (ex. Wet suits, warm rinse, hot chocolate, etc.) and the staff was very informative! A great experience! - Rachel

I enjoyed the diving experience especially the lengths taken to ensure we were comfortable and caught great sights of the sharks. Thank you - Rachel

Absolutely awesome time with Marine Dynamics! Felt completely safe the whole time - friendly, helpful staff and got to see some sharks close up which was amazing! - Jackie

This whole experience was one to remember! The pickup from my hostel was perfectly on time and on the way back we made a few memorable stops to see some whales and gorgeous views! The shark diving was amazing! We learned so much about various shark species from the on board marine biologist. She even took the time to answer my questions about the data they gathered during every trip out for conservation research projects. The staff was also great! We saw a decent number of bronze whaler sharks and they were so curious! They were wonderful to see in the wild! Overall, one of the best trips I have done and a highly ethical group to have this experience with! I would recommend this experience to everyone! - Nicole
