This tour combines the beautiful scenery and sites of Historic Stellenbosch with excellent wine pairings and some healthy outdoor exercise.
The tour starts 9:00 at the Adventureshop office. Each rider will collect a bike and helmet to suit their size. E-Bikes also available. The guide will have space in the backpack for those who would like to buy wine en-route.
The tour starts with a historic tour of Stellenbosch, visiting some of the historic sites in town. We will cycle through Stellenbosch and head to the scenic Jonkershoek valley. A winding road through oak and poplar forests will take you to a wine estate nestled in the valley bottom, here you can take in the stunning views while doing wine tasting of award winning wines on an island in a lake.
On the way out of the valley, you will stop at another wine estate which sports beautiful grounds and historic Cape Dutch architecture. Here we will do a cellar tour before we start our Chocolate and Wine pairing that will make your taste buds tingle.
After the tasting we will head back into Stellenbosch Town via the Stellenbosch University before ending the tour again at our office
There are some variations to the route, with varying levels of difficulty so the tour can be tailored to suit your cycling ability. Family tours can also be booked.
NEW: Option to do the tour on an E- bike at an additional cost.
Children under 3 years are free (cycle in baby seat with parents). Children in a buggy or half bike. Children who cycle on their own, full rate. Children will do Chocolate and Ice tea tasting.

This was a wonderful experience. We were a little apprehensive about riding bicycles on a wine tour but it was great. The bicycles were easy to manage and the route through Stellenbosch was great - easy riding. We didn't realize that we got a guided tour of the town as well as the wineries so that was a plus. The ride to the wineries was also not hard - a few hills but minimal. The wineries were interesting and fun. somehow the wine did not affect our ability to ride back to town. Our guide, Tayne, was terrific! Very informative and fun. I would highly recommend this tour. What a fun way to see the town and visit some wineries. - Beth
Great tour with a lot of explanation about the history of Stellenbosch. Especialy very interesting for the Dutch people. Good guides and the pairing winetasting at Lazerac was outstanding. The mountainbikes are well maintained. I can recommend this tour. Its worth the money. - Coen
